Before you install an unfamiliar app

Bright screenshots and a familiar name do not tell you whether a file is current or trustworthy. Slow down at the download step and verify the details that actually matter.

1. Match the listing. Make sure the app name, icon and destination agree before leaving XX77.
2. Inspect the source. Look for a secure connection, working support details and terms that apply in your location.
3. Avoid forwarded APK files. Files shared by unknown accounts can be outdated, altered or unsafe.
4. Review permissions first. An app should not request access that has no connection to its features.
5. Keep clear limits. If an app includes purchases or paid activity, decide your boundary before using it.
